Does The Downbeat have live music?
Yes. The Downbeat regularly hosts intimate live jazz performances featuring both revered musicians and rising artists. On evenings without scheduled performances, the lounge remains centered around a curated vinyl listening experience, where jazz flows softly through the space alongside conversation, cocktails, and dining.
Does The Downbeat serve food and cocktails?
Yes. The Downbeat offers craft cocktails, curated small plates, and select prix fixe dining experiences designed to complement the atmosphere and musical programming of the lounge.
Where is The Downbeat located?
The Downbeat is located in downtown Hickory, North Carolina, surrounded by local shopping, dining, and nightlife destinations.
Does The Downbeat take reservations?
Reservations and ticketed event seating are available for select evenings and performances. Guests are encouraged to check the website for current events, reservations, and operating hours.
Is there parking near The Downbeat?
Yes. Public parking is available throughout downtown Hickory within walking distance of the venue.
How do I get there? What about parking?
We are located on historic Union Square in downtown Hickory, North Carolina. Free parking is availability immediately outside to venue. Please note Friday and Saturday evenings have increased traffic. Please plan to arrive in advance.
Do you have a dress code?
We do not have a dress code.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes.
Can I take photographs/videos during the show?
We do not restrict photos or videos. Although, using flash photography is not permitted.
Do you serve food?
Yes, please see our menu and select cocktails.
Do you have an age restriction?
While we welcome all ages, we do not recommend bringing very young children.
Do you have a drink minimum?
No. We do not have a minimum food or drink requirement. Please just enjoy the show.
How long are the sets?
Approximately one and a half to two hours.
Do you have a Messenger Stage?
Yes, we host a messenger stage on Sunday evenings from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The messenger stage is open to aspiring jazz musicians and vocalists without a cover charge and no drink minimum. Sets are limited to 1 to 2 hours. Please register in advance through our booking committee, please email at booking@downbeathickory.com
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the show to allow everyone to be seated prior to performance.
Do you offer group discounts?
We do not.
